Meet the team

Let us introduce you to our small but perfectly constructed team who are responsible for making your bespoke kitchen dreams become a reality. They all contribute to making our business even more exceptional by treating each and every one of our customers the way they themselves would like to be treated.

Ashley Long

Getting hands on with kitchen design and making in the old-fashioned way, that’s Ash’s approach. He developed his skills and knowledge through graft and learning, gaining deep insights into the design process and innovative ways to use materials to help clients get the best results.
Having worked alongside architects and the finest craftsmen he has blended a rich practical knowledge with a passion for the manufacturing process.

When not in the office our, still ready to don the boots, ex rugby player can be found enjoying the joys of the Devon countryside; spot of clay pigeon shooting, a hike in the fresh air and the occasional trip to a favourite local for a pint and a bit of a chat to wind down after a busy day.

He does like to socialise, our Ash, and if you see him be sure to ask about Tamworth Cross, Oxford Sandy & Black and Old Spot – plenty of tails to tell!

Robin Steer

The main man for ideas and 3D visualisation. Since partnering with Ash in 2005, Robin personally designs every kitchen, taking you from initial consultation through a collaborative design process where all aspects of the space are taken into account.
From location, environment, materials, colours, finishes and integrated technology to the fully finished kitchen. Every detail is considered to ensure the solution is fully on brief and results in a finished room that is in harmony with your lifestyle.

The great outdoors is Robin’s natural habitat when not in the office and in front of the screen. Happily wending his way from tee to the 19th or walking the dog, though greens are definitely out-of-bounds if Bella is keeping him company.

Dave Grogan

The devil is in the details on any project, they say, and it’s Dave’s quality of finish and attention to those details that make Compass kitchens second to none.
Having joined the team 10 years ago he has consistently made the difference to many commissions over the years and the level of craftsmanship is clearly evident in the finished projects.

Dave’s idea of the ideal down time is to spend time with the family, nothing better than watching the young ones grow and share adventures! And, after a hard day’s play, a spot of reading and a glass of wine for some grown up ‘Dave’ time.

Steve Hack

Craftsmanship and the level of quality that Compass provide are skills that are honed over years of working in the kitchen making business.

Steve has been making furniture for over 30 years, you name it and he will pretty much have made it!

A craftsman in the truest sense of the name, he combines the latest skills and modern technology with a traditional approach that exudes pride and passion. The precision and love for the work is evident in all Compass’ commissions.

What else would a wood worker in the South Hams get up to, other than race to our beaches and get in the surf? After all, when in Devon…
